Barbican Glass Capabilities & Techniques

Built from years of experience in custom lighting, Barbican's glass capabilities continue to expand. Barbican's glass shop includes two full-sized electric kilns and lots of other glass equipment.
Whether the glass is for use in a custom light or another architectural application, Barbican has your glass solution.

Glass Slumping:

Glass slumping involves slowly draping the glass over or onto a mold, and using gravity to "pull" the glass into the required shape.

This technique allows for a myriad of effects and looks great in a variety of applications.

Fused Glass:

Fused glass involves "bonding" separate pieces of glass together, making it possible to create patterns and designs.

Laminated Glass:

Laminated glass provides shatter resistance to art glass pieces. It is also possible to laminate objects between the glass like fabrics and plants.
